The 47-point Airbnb turnover checklist (from a Superhost)

If you've ever lost Superhost status by a hair, you know the math. A 4.7 to 4.6 swing isn't bad luck — it's almost always cleanliness. After 707 five-star reviews across my properties and 700+ turnovers a year through Sunshine, the same 47 things move the needle every time. Here they are, in the order we clean them.

Kitchen (the highest-leverage room)

Guests notice the kitchen first because it's where they unpack and where they second-guess every decision they made about your place.

1. Counters disinfected, including the strip under the toaster
2. Sink scrubbed and the faucet polished — not just rinsed
3. Stovetop and the back of the range hood (this is where the four-stars hide)
4. Microwave inside, not just outside
5. Fridge wiped, with previous guest's leftover sauce checked
6. Dishwasher emptied and reset
7. Trash out, fresh liner in
8. Floor mopped, including under the kitchen mat

Bathrooms (where five-star or four-star is decided)

If your reviews ever say "mostly clean" — it was a bathroom.

9. Toilet: inside, outside, base, and behind
10. Shower / tub scrubbed, glass squeegeed dry
11. Mirrors streak-free (use a microfiber, never a paper towel)
12. Sink and counter disinfected
13. Floor mopped — corners checked
14. Towels folded hotel-style (the right size matters)
15. Toilet paper restocked with a spare visible
16. Drain hair check

Bedrooms

17. Beds stripped, fresh linens, mattress checked
18. Pillows fluffed, throws folded
19. Nightstands wiped, lamps checked
20. Floors vacuumed and edges done
21. Closet checked for guest leftovers
22. Dresser surfaces dusted

Living areas, finals, and the photo report

The last 15 items are about consistency: ceiling fans dusted, baseboards spot-checked, restocked paper goods, thermostat set to host preference, doors locked, photo report sent to your phone.
